The Society works to raise the professional level of its members through accreditation, qualification and continuous development; to represent the profession's interests before legislative and regulatory bodies; and to publish the accredited accounting and auditing standards in support of a transparent, trustworthy economy.

Sixty-six years of professional building

1946

Founded in Cairo

The Egyptian Society of Accountants & Auditors was founded to be Egypt's foremost professional reference for organising and developing the accounting and auditing profession and protecting its integrity.

Al-Muhasib magazine — 58 issues covering accounting and auditing standards, company legislation, and the profession's developments locally and internationally.

From a royal decree in 1946 to today

1946
Founding

The royal founding decree is issued

The Society was founded under the royal decree issued on 24 April 1946, adopting the charter of the 'Royal Egyptian Society of Accountants & Auditors'.

1951
Regulating the profession

The profession-practice law is issued

The Society played the leading role in enacting Law No. 133 of 1951 on practising the accounting and auditing profession.

1977
The current name

Official name amended and re-registered

The Society's name was changed to the 'Egyptian Society of Accountants & Auditors', and it was re-registered on 5 January 1977 under No. 2280.

1999
International presence

Co-founding and chairing the Mediterranean federation

The Society helped found the Federation of Mediterranean Certified Accountants 'FCM', based in Rome, and the Society's president held its first presidency.

2007
Official registration

Registration with the Ministry of Social Solidarity

The Society's statute was registered with the Central Administration for Associations and Federations under No. 554 of 2007.

2015
The new headquarters

Moving to the Society's headquarters in 6th of October City

The move to the headquarters building took place on 1 March 2015 after equipping it with the latest audio-visual facilities.

2021
Legal alignment

Aligning the Society's status under Law 149

The Society's status was aligned in accordance with Law No. 149 of 2019 and its executive regulations, with registration data updated on the electronic system.

The Society is represented in the major professional organisations and the State's national technical committees, and is Egypt's legitimate representative in the International Federation of Accountants.

The Society is the sole, legitimate representative of the Arab Republic of Egypt in the International Federation of Accountants 'IFAC'.
