History of the Society

The Society is represented as an entity, or through the elite of its fellows or members, in many of the relevant professional technical committees formed by the official bodies of the state, or in the boards of directors or general assemblies of the largest institutions, authorities, and companies.

    Moving to the Society's headquarters in 6th of October City

    The move to the Society's headquarters building took place on the first of March 2015 after the completion of the construction and fitting-out works with the latest audiovisual means.

    Registration at the Ministry of Social Solidarity

    In recognition of the Society's lofty standing and in confirmation and crowning of its pioneering role in serving the accounting and auditing profession and its practitioners, the bylaws of the Society's articles of association were registered at the Central Administration for Societies and Federations at the Ministry of Social Solidarity under number 554 of 2007, in accordance with the provisions of Law No. 84 of 2002 and its executive regulations.

    Representation in the International Federation — Presidency of the International Federation of Accountants

    The Society contributed to founding the Federation of Mediterranean Certified Accountants "FCM", headquartered in Rome, Italy, and as a crowning of its standing both as an entity and a president, Mr. Accountant Hazem Hassan, the Society's President, was unanimously chosen in July 1999 as the first president of the Federation.

    Thus the Society is the legitimate and sole representative of the Arab Republic of Egypt in the International Federation of Accountants "IFAC"

    Amendment of the official name — Re-registration

    With the issuance of Law No. 311 of 1953 amending some terms in the legislation in force at the time of its issuance, as required by the declaration of the republican system, the Society's name was amended to

    Egyptian Society of Accountants & Auditors

    Accordingly, the Society was re-registered on 5 January 1977 under number 2280.

    Issuance of the law for practicing the profession

    Since its founding, the Society has undertaken the regulation of the accounting and auditing profession in Egypt, and worked to maintain its proper standard.

    The Society contributed the largest role in obtaining the royal decree

    Law No. 133 of 1951 on practicing the accounting and auditing profession, which preserved for the Society and its members a lofty and distinguished standing in recognition of its merit and its diligent efforts in elevating the profession, and its persistent endeavor to maintain its proper standard locally, regionally, and internationally.
