Marriott Seminar on Digital Examinations 2022
The training seminar on the fundamentals of and preparation for the question bank, examinations, and setting digital questions, held at the Marriott Hotel in 2022
The Digital Examinations Development Committee, the Examinations Committee, and the Cultural Committee organized seminars for all of the Society's question-bank authors to develop the digital examinations, held at the Marriott Hotel on 19/3/2022.
As part of the Board of Directors' commitment to the continuous and ongoing development of the Society's systems, in 2019 the Board decided to convert the examination system from the traditional paper-based system — which had been in place since the Society's founding in 1946 — to an electronic one, with the aim of making it easier for examinees to sit the examinations, and because the traditional system was no longer keeping pace with modern technological requirements.
The decision was taken to prepare the infrastructure of the Society's premises to be suitable for holding examinations on site.
The committee set itself the challenge of holding the Society's June 2023 examinations in full, for both the intermediate and final levels, using a computer-based system within the Society's premises. An urgent plan was put in place to equip the halls' infrastructure and to purchase the latest technical devices supporting the new system, and — by God's grace — the examinations were held within the Society's premises in October 2023 without any notable problems.
Work continues on completing the question bank to cover all examination subjects for the intermediate and final levels, in order to ensure variety in the questions and that all examinees are given equal opportunities. Groups of accountants from among the Society's members and fellows who practice and excel in the profession were selected to participate in building the question bank.
The Examinations Committee is also currently studying a revision of the method of setting questions while preserving their professional and academic level, with the aim of improving the quality of education and training provided to members. A joint committee was formed from the Curriculum Development, Membership, Examinations, and Examinations Development committees to study revising the examination question method and to prepare a detailed report on all procedures, to be presented to the new Board of Directors after the elections so that the necessary decisions can be taken.
